Cataract Falls

Funny name I know. But that's actually what it's called. A "cataract", in addition to being a growing opacity on the lens of the eye, is also an old term for a large or high waterfall.

This one is in Marin County, California, just West of the town of Fairfax. The water roars down this long, narrow canyon in the early months of the year, after the winter rains.

I set the camera at 1/15 of a second delay for the shutter speed and just got lucky. It turned out perfect the first time. This was taken with one of the first Canon digital cameras...the G3. Fully programmable, with an articulating LCD viewing screen... it's still one of my favorite cameras.
